The body is our subjective world, in which the mirror of ourselves is manifested. It carries the deep layers of our personality, while both its physical and mental features are inextricably linked to the world. In its stillness or movement, social pressures take many forms. Either it regulates itself and tries to 'blend in' or it rebels against the expectations, such as dress and behaviour.
What is the limit as long as the body is ours and not a material form controlled by the gaze of the world?
The body has always been at the centre of art, whether figurative or abstract. From the 1850s onwards, photography as a medium became widespread, and the representation of the body took on different aspects.
The exhibited works place the body in a sentimental and sacral position, or present them in an open and honest closeness. Other times, the body tries to manifest itself, alienated and hiding behind a mask or even act in a destructive way. The body tries to form its own identity.
